Orranäs

The new glassworks of Orranäs, with its octagonal blowing room, is located in the traditional glassblowing village of Orrefors. One era may have ended when Orrefors Glassworks closed down, but craftsmanship, fire and passion burn bright in the area, and the interest in this very special blowing room is tangible.

Orranäs Glassworks was founded in 2017, with the ambition of preserving the knowledge in a new context. The unique graal technique that was created in 1916 is now carried on by master glassblower Johan Nilsson with Amy Krüger as creative manager – different but complementary competences that result in beautiful art glass. In this tiny blowing room, you get very close to the action, and there plenty of opportunities to try it out for yourself. During the COVID-19 pandemic, you can only try your hand at sculpted glass.
