Videos from GAS2020

Five videos on making glass

Some of our foremost glass artists share their work, including the process of creating the unique pieces for sale in the Gallery. The videos were originally recorded for the virtual international glass conference GAS2020, which took place in May 2020.

Dreams and Longings in the Clouds

In this glass demonstration, we follow Amy Krüger and her team. In the demonstration, they work with mixed glass techniques, which results in a girl being assembled. The techniques used are hot sculpture, grail details, painting on glass, interior sculptures and processed parts. I will do this demo together with Håknamåla Team (Amy Krüger, Niels Ole Frandsen, Maria Bang Espersen, Max Syron) who live together in the Swedish forest. “I’m really happy to be living with these amazing artists and craftsmen.”

Made in Kosta

Welcome to Sweden’s oldest glassworks which is still in operation – Kosta was established in 1742. In Kosta glassworks several of Sweden’s great glass artists work and in this recording you get an insight into both Bertil Vallien’s work and Ulrika Hydman Vallien’s first scholarship holder – Ellen Ehk Åkesson. Bertil and Ellen show their work in the cabin, but also as a short visit to the grinding mill and the crucible workshop. Watch and enjoy!

Manufacture of a Silver Graal

Join in the production of a silver grail. Morgan Persson works as a glass artist. He was educated at the glass school in Orrefors and has now worked with glass for 20 years and with grail technology as a specialty for almost 13 years. He lives in the glass kingdom Småland, Ösjöbol Åseda where he has his studio. He works a lot with unique comic character images, and invests a lot in engraving and blasting. Silverblad has been a recurring feature for many years.

Målerås World of Crystal

In the spring of 2020, recordings were made with five of Glasriket’s glass artists. In each film, we get to follow the production of a work of art. In this film, we meet the glassworks’ CEO, Martin Robertsson, and Mats Jonasson, owner and artist at Målerås Glasbruk. We get to follow behind the scenes in the manufacture of an art object in the combination of iron and crystal. Watch and enjoy!

The Holy Graal and Magic Air
